Hi I'm Melissa Skiadas. I am a native New yorker from Queens NY. I am currently living and working out of Brooklyn, NY in my amazing but cramped studio space. I have always been fascinated by NYC and the many lives that pass through this vast and ever changing landscape. As a dreamer and a creator I endeavor to shed light of the quieter and poignant moments that we often take for granted . I am interested in bringing more casting and embroidery into my sculptural work as well as pursuing my oil paintings.
After graduating of School of Visual Arts in 2012 with my BFA in Fine Arts, I felt I had lost my way without any clear direction of where to go next. At this point have lived in Mystic CT, upstate NY and traveled to Europe. I have never lost my love for art but simply needed direction. I still don't know where I am going in this world but I have learned that when i embrace the unknown I find myself all over again. Artmaking is a life journey for me and it wont end until I do.
